2022-08-17 11:37:22

Summary:

On August 1, 2022, at 10:30 Beijing time, the Second International Hackathon which was held by King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang (KMITL) and co-organized by Pujiang Institute, opened at the KMITL’s Bangkok campus. About 70 contestants from 8 countries including China, Thailand, Germany, France, Bhutan, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Brazil participated in the competition online and offline. Within two weeks, the contestants will compete on the theme of "My Future City" in the four tracks of Medical Treatment, Environment, Transportation, and Tourism.

The opening ceremony was held by Prof. Dr. Rutchanee Gullayanon, the VP of KMITL. She first gave a brief introduction of the KMITL, after that she expressed her welcome to the participants from various countries and wished them excellent results in the competition.

Then, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the press spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand welcomed the contestants and pointed out that this Hackathon will also be part of the APEC 2022 summit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the APEC 2022 summit will give strong support to this competition. He hoped that participants will experience Thailand's rich historical and cultural resources while actively participating in the competition.

Dr. Jochen Amrehn, the VP of Pujiang Institute as the representative of the co-organizer delivered a speech and played the introductive video of Pujiang Institute to show the teaching concept and "work-oriented" education of Pujiang Institute.

At the end of the opening ceremony, Dr. Rutchanee Gullayanon introduced KMITL's teaching concept of "learning for application" and its technical exploration in the field of science and technology. She mentioned that the focus of this event is to train everyone's ability to inspire and explain the design ideas of the project in a short time. This is very important for becoming a successful leader. She also hoped that participants can make friends from other counties.

After the opening ceremony, under the organization of KMITL, the contestants carried out grouping and ice-breaking activities. Then the first group activity was carried out.

Pujiang Institute has sent nearly 20 students to participate in the Hackathon online. Before the competition, the students were trained in English communication and professional skills by the International Affairs Department and School of Telecommunication and Computer Science. Let’s hope that in the next two weeks, our students could play steadily, fully enjoy the competition, make friends with friends from various countries, and wish them good results.
