The First Online International Hackathon was successfully held in Jiangning campus

Summary:

  The First Online International Hackathon had been successfully held at the teaching hotel of IHD school in Jiangning campus of Nanjing Tech University Pujiang Institute from May 28 to May 30, 2021. Vice President Gong Lun attended the opening ceremony and made a speech to inspire the contestants of Hackathon, accompanied by Dean of Computer Science and Communication Engineering School Xu Pingping, Deputy Director of International Affairs Department Zhu Hongching and Liu Bin. Vice President Dr. Jochen Amrehn also expressed his greetings and wishes to contestants online.

 

 

 

 

  Hackathon is an online international competition jointly organized by King Mongut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt and Nanjing Tech University Pujiang Institute. It aims to motivate students’ spirits of inquiry, cultivate their abilities of calculating and programming, and enhance the consciousness of creating as well.

 

  There were 14 teams, consist of 70 contestants from three universities participating in this year’s Hackathon, including 28 contestants from our university as the representatives. Contestants confirmed their topics before the competition and worked as groups to brainstorm ideas. During the 36-hour hacking period, they need to collect the data or other information organizers provide to create a program or application to work out the problem mentioned in the topic. Teams were judged and ranked after the final pitching consists of a presentation and a question-answer session.

 

 

 

 

 

   Pujiang Institute attached great importance to this competition and built up a team of teachers as instructors to provide two-week training of English oral-speaking skills and programming skills. Dean Xu of Computer Science and Communication Engineering School also made comments on the delivery, content and language skills of presentation.

 

  After three-day incessant team-working, Xu Xi and Peng Jiayi from Team 11 won the first prize of Topic Three. Zhang Yuanjie and Wu Xueqin, as two members of Team 13, won the prize of the most popular team of Hackathon.
