Global Value Chain International Summer School Successfully Held

Summary:

      During the summer of 2023, a collaborative effort between three universities led to the successful hosting of the "Global Value Chain: Logistics and Supply Chain Management" International Summer School in Thailand.

 

                                      

 

      On the afternoon of August 11th, the Vice President, Dr. Jochen Amrehn, officially announced the conclusion of the "Global Value Chain" summer school at the EEC campus of the Panyapiwat Institute of Management in Thailand, marking the end of the two-week exchange program.

 

                                   

 

      This international summer school was jointly organized by the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria in Austria, the Panyapiwat Institute of Management in Thailand, and Nanjing Tech University Pujiang Instititue in China. It attracted a total of 22 students from nine countries, including China, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Germany, Austria, Mexico, Nigeria, and Spain. This represents the most internationally diverse student exchange program of Pujiang Institute has participated in to date.

 

                                    

 

        The summer school commenced on July 31st at the Bangkok campus of the Panyapiwat Institute of Management. The opening ceremony featured distinguished guests, including Dr. Jochen Amrehn, Vice President of Pujiang Institute, Professor Markus from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Mr. Phronvit, Vice President of the Panyapiwat Institute of Management, Mr. Wilhelm, the Austrian Ambassador to Thailand, and representatives from CP Group.
 

                                     

 

      The theme of this summer school was the "Global Value Chain," with a focus on case studies, involving the distribution and retail strategies of major retail giants such as ALDI and 7-11, to encourage students to engage in group discussions and propose solutions to existing problems.

 

                                      

 

      Renowned industry experts were also invited to provide students with insights into the logistics industry in Europe, Southeast Asia, and Thailand, as well as cutting-edge information on strategies and policies in distribution for companies like ALDI and 7-11.

 

                                       

 

       At the conclusion of the summer school event, the judging panel awarded distinctions to various student teams: Gold to the team led by Xiong Siyi for the ALDI case and Bronze for 7-11 case, Gold to the team led by Xu Yijing for the 7-11 case, Bronze and Silver to the team led by Wen Bo for the ALDI and 7-11 cases, Silver to the team led by Zhang Hao for the 7-11 case, and Bronze to the team led by Wang Runting for the 7-11 case.

 

                                        

 

      In collaboration with the International College and the International Relations Office of the Panyapiwat Institute of Management, and Mr. Ji Bo from the School of Computer and Communication Engineering of Pujiang Institute, all teachers from International Affairs Department of Pujiang Institute engaged in thorough communication and coordination of all aspects of the summer school to ensure the smooth execution.

      The successful hosting of this summer school has not only enhanced the understanding of the international exchange programs offered by the International College of the Panyapiwat Institute of Management but also provided more possibilities for further collaboration and extension with Thai universities, including the Thai Global Business College, King Mongut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), and Assumption University of Thailand. It has also paved the way of hosting more similar international events with international partners.
